About

Paul Fawcett is Associate Professor of Public Policy and Chair of Political Science Discipline in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne. He is also currently Treasurer / Secretary of the Australian Political Studies Association and Associate Editor of the Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis. He has previously worked in the Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis at the University of Canberra and as a Senior Lecturer in Public Policy in the Department of Government and International Relations at the University of Sydney. He has held Visiting Fellowships in the Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen and the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University. Paul’s research has been principally concerned with the changing nature of state-society relationships and their impact on governance, executive politics, public service reform and political participation often from a perspective located in either networked governance or metagovernance theory. He has used these interests to examine institutional and policy reform in central government, changing forms of political participation, policy transfer and the branding of public policy. He is currently working on several different projects that address these and related themes. He has published in journals such as Administration and Society, Governance, Policy and Society, Journal of Public Policy, Policy Sciences, Government and Opposition, Policy & Politics, The Australian Journal of Political Science, Policy Studies, Political Studies Review and The Australian Journal of Public Administration. Paul is a former Associate Editor for the journal, Policy & Politics. Paul regularly attends international conferences on public policy, public management and governance and is a member of member of several professional associations and specialist groups, including the Australian Political Studies Association, the International Political Science Association’s Research Group on Public Administration, the Political Studies Association (UK), the Depoliticisation and Anti-Politics Specialist Group, and the Institute of Public Administration Australia.
