Aims and scope
European Political Science (EPS) is ECPR’s professional journal, publishing scholarship across comparative politics, public administration, political theory, political economy, IR, European studies, and related fields.
EPS offers a broad platform for political science research. It publishes a wide range of article types, including original articles and notes, debates and datasets, policy commentaries, teaching and learning contributions, book reviews, and work on the profession itself.
Rooted in a European scholarly community but open to global perspectives, EPS welcomes comparative and cross-regional work that speaks to political scientists worldwide.
From 2026, all accepted articles are published fully open access, ensuring maximum visibility and accessibility.
EPS is a venue for rigorous, diverse, and engaged political science research that strengthens the discipline and illuminates contemporary political developments

Jacqui Briggs Prize
Since 2015, the ECPR and EPS team have awarded the Jacqui Briggs Prize for the best article appearing in the previous year’s volume of EPS.
The prize is named in honour of former EPS Editor, Jacqui Briggs, who passed away in 2018, and is given to an article that makes a substantial contribution to the field of political science, especially articles that contribute to the understanding of new and innovative trends in political science or to innovative approaches to teaching and learning in the profession.
