New Chair and Executive Committee take office

Today we welcome seven new members to our Executive Committee, elected at the beginning of the year. Together with the ongoing five, they will work under the chairship of Daniela Irrera to drive our organisation forward for the next three years.

Daniela IrreraDaniela Irrera is Professor of Political Science and International Relations at the Centre for High Defence Studies in Rome. Her research primarily focuses on action and influence on global politics by non-state actors.

Daniela's impressive record of engagement across ECPR's activities underscores her commitment to our organisational mission. In her role as Chair of our Working Group on Academic Freedom, she has fostered scholarly dialogue around threats to academic freedom in Europe, hosting roundtables at our General Conferences, and spearheading the dedicated blog series on The Loop

Daniela has also served on the Steering Committee of our Standing Group on International Relations.

On her appointment as Chair, Daniela says:

I feel privileged and honoured to take on the position of ECPR Chair. Serving our academic community with unwavering dedication is my top priority.

Our goal is to uphold ECPR as a prestigious organisation that fosters a dynamic environment where learning, research, and collaborative efforts thrive harmoniously. An organisation where tradition and innovation converge to create a rich tapestry of intellectual exchange. An organisation where senior experts and emerging scholars from diverse backgrounds and disciplines come together to engage in open and honest dialogue.

Our primary focus is to drive the political science research agenda that tackles the urgent social and political issues of our time, ensuring that ECPR remains at the forefront of advancing knowledge in a constantly changing global environment.

Joining Daniela on the Executive Committee are a diverse group of distinguished scholars from across our membership, each bringing unique expertise and perspectives. In their capable hands, we are excited to enter a new chapter marked by bold initiatives, inclusive dialogue, and a steadfast dedication to advancing political science.
