Abstract

In contemporary local democracy, representative institutions are often complemented by participatory, deliberative and direct democracy mechanism. In this panel the papers explore different models for representative citizen-assemblies, that adds to the elected councils. Other papers study how different participatory designs affects trust in local government and the attitudes and learning processes of local representatives.
