How to get to Ljubljana by air
Jože Pučnik Airport, 25 km from the centre of Ljubljana, has good connections with Vienna, Munich, Frankfurt, Venice and others. Shuttle buses take passengers to the main bus station in the centre of Ljubljana. For more information please visit their website.
How to get to Ljubljana by rail
Ljubljana has good rail links with all large European cities. The station is in the centre of Ljubljana. Organisations in your own country such as Wasteels, EuroDomino, Interrail and City Star may be able to offer discounts to students and others under 26. How to get to Ljubljana by bus
The bus station is in the centre of the city. Major transport companies offer student discounts of up to 22 per cent. For more information please visit their website.
How to get to Ljubljana by car
Travelling by car can be the most convenient way to reach Slovenia from neighbouring countries, though finding a parking spot in the city centre might prove difficult. However, the Faculty of Social Sciences does have public parking.

Travelling around Ljubljana
The most efficient public transport in Ljubljana are the buses, which have no-contact smartcard payment system, called Urbana. After purchasing the card (€2) you are free to upload credit on it. A single journey of up to 90 minutes costs €1.20, regardless of the number of buses you take to reach your destination. For more information please visit their website. Locals and visitors can ride around Ljubljana using bicycles from Bicikelj, a self-service rent-a-bike system which also takes Urbana. 300 bicycles and 600 parking spots are available all year round at 31 stations around the city centre. Currency, Exchange Rates, and Credit Card Services
Slovenian currency as of January 2007 is the Euro.
Eurocard, VISA, Diners Club and American Express, and other cards are widely accepted in shops, hotels and restaurants.
Student and Youth Card Services
The most useful are the Student ID card of University, International Student Identity Card (ISIC). Your ordinary plastic student photo ID card should provide discounts on admission to museums and sights, meals in some restaurants and many forms of transport.

Email and Internet Access
WiFree Ljubljana allows visitors to the city centre free wireless internet for up to 60 minutes a day. For more information please visit their
website. The Faculty of Social Sciences is providing staff and students at the Summer School with access to computers and the internet, including usernames and passwords for email. Available will be more than 120 PCs with internet access; 20 computers for terminal work; 32 computers in the Library; and a wide range of general and specialised analytical programs. Eduroam gives users free, secure access to the wireless network of their own institution, plus hosting in networks of other institutions in the Eduroam network, using the same username and password as is used to access their home Eduroam network. Useful information
In Ljubljana there are around 30 post offices, open Monday–Friday, 8am–7pm, and until 1pm on Saturdays. Ljubljana’s postcode is SI-1000
The city’s tap water is safe and drinkable.
Electricity current is 220 V, 50 Hz. Plugs are central European so you need a converter if your country uses different plugs.
Eating Out
The influences of the East and West, North and South have mingled in Slovenia, a phenomenon noticeable in the country’s traditional dishes. Ljubljana offers a great variety of cuisine and prices. Most restaurants serve food until 11pm, but some do so until early in the morning. There are numerous ethnic restaurants, including Chinese, Italian, Mexican and Spanish. The gratuity is not included in the price of the meal.

Climate
Ljubljana’s climate is Central European, but also subject to the influences of warm air from the Adriatic and cold air from the Alps. The average daytime temperature in the summer is usually 30°C.
